Egyptian writer, editor, and engineer, who was born in Gharbia Governorate in Egypt and holds a master's degree in irrigation engineering.
Aly Kotb works as the Managing Editor of the Naguib Mahfouz Library Series at the Egyptian General Book Authority Publications.
His publications include “The Mission to Restore the World”, “Introductions to Taha Hussein”, “Everything I Know”, “A Parallel Female”, “Mekano”, “The Waiting”, “The Grandchildren of Alice III”, and “The Colour Gang”.
Aly Kotb published short story collections, including "Mystery in Ancient Egypt, He Always Remembers Her" and wrote children's stories for the magazines Aladdin and Qatar Al-Nada. He also translated the children's story "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" from English.
His cultural awards include the Cairo International Book Fair Award for Children's Literature, the Sawiris Cultural Award, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Award, the Ihsan Abdel Quddous Award, the “I Read” Award for Historical Fiction, the Supreme Council of Culture Award for Literary Talents "Khairi Shalabi Session", the Best Short Story Award at the level of Egyptian Universities, the Best Short Story Award at the level of Helwan University for 4 years, the Arab Cultural Salon Award for the Novel
Short Story, as well as the Essay and Short Film Awards at the Youth Centres Competition.
Aly Kotb studied screenwriting with Dr Medhat El Adl and Mohamed Hefzy and participated in the writing and production of the short film "A Pet Soul", which won more than 15 awards at film festivals.
Recently, he published the book "Singing and Music in the Literature of Naguib Mahfouz".
