A special session featuring a discussion on the book "Lahn Al Bahr Al Atheer" with writer and composer Ibrahim Juma, followed by a performance of sea songs (including Al Nahma, Al Yamal, and others), during which the expertise of local musicians in this field will highlight the various styles and themes that distinguish this distinctive music.
A natural artist who was enchanted by the sea and its melodies to the extent that they reached his being and assumed control thereof, he set forth to transform those inspirations into melodic magic that captivated the senses and satiated the soul. By exploring the entirety of the musical artistic heritage, he developed his own distinctive musical expression and introduced a novel style that resonated with both singers and listeners. Furthermore, his adept transformation of his artistic legacy positioned him among the preeminent lyricists in the United Arab Emirates.
An Emirati writer who serves as the Executive Director of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. He is also a Member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library, and on the Advisory of the College of Arts at the University of Sharjah, as well a Member of the Emirates Writers and Authors Union. He was the President of the Union in 2005 and served as its General-Secretary for several terms.
Al Hashmi writes poetry and articles and conducts research into heritage and history. He also enjoys photography. He has published 4 poetry collections, 4 biographies of Emirati poets, and a book about popular beliefs in the UAE in collaboration with Dr Aisha Bilkheir.
