Launched in 2009, the Spotlight on Rights initiative aims to financially support the efforts of publishers looking to translate literary content from and into Arabic and digitise printed content to eBook and Audiobook formats. The initiative is set to fortify cooperation between Arab and international publishers and avail as much of the world’s best literary content as possible to Arab readers around the region.
Since its inception, Spotlight on Rights has helped over 191 publishers release more than 1,324 books across genres like children’s literature, science, history and social sciences. In 2023, we received applications from 51 publishing houses and awarded 289 grants in total.
All publishers attending the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair are eligible to join Spotlight on Rights and may submit up to 25 grant applications for the initiative's offerings. Applications must be submitted exclusively via our online form.
Our application form is easy to navigate and is the only way to guarantee your nomination for the Spotlight on Rights grants. Please read and fill out the application carefully to ensure it gets considered.
Each publisher can submit up to 25 applications for all grants offered by Spotlight on Rights.
All genres that we accept are listed in the grant application form. Since our inception, we have helped publish books in various fields, including children’s literature, science, history, social sciences and more.
Applications typically open one day before the start of the fair and close one week after the fair ends. Check our press releases page for this year’s exact dates.
