The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is the bedrock of the publishing industry across the Middle East and North Africa.
The 31st edition of ADIBF will be held from 23 to 29 May 2022 at Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Center. The Fair looks forward to stepping up its competitiveness, consolidating its regional position and enhancing its global presence through excellence in providing professional and cultural content. It also seeks to combine the regional publishing sectors and creative industries and encourage endeavors to support industries that contribute to enhance readable, visual, audio and interactive culture, thus consolidating Abu Dhabi's position as a hub for Arab publishing and global creative content. This further presents ADIBF as a global platform for creative content based on language in its global context.
ADIBF 2022 is expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors with the participation of 1,130 international, regional and local publishing houses from 80 countries. Scheduled events are also expected to attract more than 1,000 speakers from more than 40 countries from around the world.
ADIBF 2022 establishes the fact that “The Book is Insight,” through which a mindful reader can see what others do not see. So, the content of its programs, given its diversity, provides inspiring models that contribute to recovering from the pandemic. It also supports creativity in all its forms, especially the rich fields of creativity associated with the book, in terms of its content, industry, and circulation, in pursuit of cultural enrichment, locally, regionally and internationally. Furthermore, the content of the programs reflects this fact by presenting many inspiring models from different age groups and in various walks of life.
Creativity and innovation are also highlighted through the latest technologies used in the design of the pavilions and stalls at the Fair, and in the topics covered by the content of the program in relation to the modern and contemporary trends in the content industry.
The content of the programs also enriches the cultural and academic dialogue through a series of activities on language, translation, literature and poetry of different cultures.
While in town, ADIBF 2022 is expected to attract publishing industry magnates, affiliates and those interested in this vital and promising sector, literary professionals and creative talents from all over the world to the UAE capital. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi will become an active, inspiring and stimulating regional and global hub for the growth of the publishing sector. It will further host discussions, seminars, dialogues, professional workshops and events related to copyright, licensing contracts, discussing opportunities, challenges and future prospects for the sector, establishing fruitful partnerships among entities in the industry, supporting creative talents, and creating a link between publishers and content makers to bring readers together. The professional, cultural and creative impact of the Fair exceeds its duration through effective mechanisms ensuring that benefits of this crowd-puller Fair, the largest in the region, are put to good use all year round.
ADIBF is a comprehensive, creative cultural platform that attracts more than 150,000 visitors every year. The Fair draws avid readers who are keen on acquiring books, people with different interests and age groups, creative talents, and professionals. In addition to the pavilions of publishers who present their latest and most important works, the Fair provides valuable offers to its visitors as well as hundreds of events, through program content that includes the sectors of culture, literature, arts, knowledge, education, science, thought, technology, traditional publishing, digital publishing, and entertainment, along with other innumerable creative, knowledge and professional domains.
ADIBF was first launched in 1981 as the Islamic Book Fair, by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. Though the Fair’s name has changed, ADIBF’s aim remains the same: to encourage reading and cultural exchange throughout the region, and to transform Abu Dhabi into a major centre of the publishing world.
Over nearly forty years, ADIBF has become a driving force behind the development of the regional publishing industry. The Fair has gained a global reputation as a vital date in the industry calendar, creating a major hub for business and a perfect platform to showcase the very latest in digital and printed content.
Today, ADIBF plays host to the world’s leading international publishing houses, as well as the most prominent publishers from the MENA region. The Fair provides a golden opportunity for the two to mingle and do business.
