How did Al Khalil Al Farahidi turn the sounds of Arabic into a dictionary?
"Kitab Al Ain", the first Arabic dictionary organised by sound, arranged letters according to their points of articulation, from the throat to the lips.
The result was a new way to understand Arabic, and a major step in the development of lexicography and language studies.
